When the earth shook to La Guaira on June 24, 2026, solidarity did not remain solely on the coast. Several hours away, in Bejuma, a small town in the High Valleys of the Carabobo state, the community decided that the best way to accompany to the affected families was to open their homes, their hands and their hearts to collect everything that might be needed in the disaster area. Thus was born the day that today he is remembered as Angels Humanitarian in Bejuma in support of The Guaira.
A small town, a gesture large
Bejuma is, above all, a people of tradition and community. Founded in the XIX century thanks to the generosity of the families who donated his own land to lift it up, maintained until today, that spirit of closeness and mutual aid. It was just such a character that was put to the test —and came out strengthened— when the team Casa de Pan, he called the neighbors of the town to join in a day of collecting donations for the families of La Guaira.
The answer was not long in coming. Neighbors from different sectors of Bejuma, local businesses, families and co-workers close to the foundation came up with food, clothes, shoes, personal hygiene items, bottled water, and medicines, each one contributing with what you had at your fingertips. In a matter of days, what began as a call point is transformed into a true community movement.
The logistics: the silent work behind every box
To receive donations, is only the first step. Behind each box, which finally arrived in La Guaira, there was a careful work and little visible that the team of House of Bread, took on responsibility: logistics.
The foundation staff is in charge of coordinating a collection point in Bejuma, where each donation was received, classified, and reviewed before being packaged
This process included:
- Classification by category: to separate food, clothing, footwear, medicines and hygiene items, to facilitate its posterior distribution according to the specific needs of each family in La Guaira.
- Verification of conditionscheck : check that the foods are within your date of consumption, that the clothes were in good condition and which medicines to keep their packaging, and effective, ensuring that all the goods may be delivered with dignity.
Packing and organization for the transfer: prepare each donation form that could endure the journey between Carabobo and La Guaira, to optimize the space in order to mobilize the greatest amount of help possible on each trip.
This work of logistics, although less visible than the delivery end, it was just as important as the harvest itself: he assured that every donation reach their destination in optimal conditions and that no family to receive something that she could not use.
A partnership between the foundation and the community
What distinguishes this day is that it was not an effort to exclusive from the Casa de Pan, but a genuine partnership between the foundation and the community of Bejuma. While the team of the foundation contributed to the organization, the logistics experience and a direct connection to the affected areas of La Guaira, were the inhabitants of the people who filled the boxes: mothers who separated clothing for their children, businesses who donated part of his inventory, older people who came up with what little they had to give.
That work set —foundation and community, united by the same cause,— is, perhaps, the essence of what it means to be an "Angel Humanitarian law": it is not about having a lot to give, but the willingness to share what they have with those who need it most.
Of Bejuma to La Guaira: closing the distance with solidarity
Once you are organized, classified, and reviewed the donations collected in Bejuma embarked on the road to La Guaira, where the same team of Casa de Pan —together community leaders on the ground— was in charge of distributing them directly between the families affected by the earthquake of the 24th of June.
As well, a village in the High Valleys of Carabobo, without having felt directly by the tremor, became a crucial link in the chain of aid which sustained the communities of the coast in one of their most difficult times.
Each box that came out of Bejuma carried with it much more than food, clothing, or medicines: wearing a certainty, for whom he received, he was not alone, that other hands, though distant, had also moved by her well-being.
A work that is multiplied
The day Angels Humanitarian in Bejuma is a sign that the mission of Casa de Pan transcends a single place or a single community. It is, above all, the test of the faith and the love of neighbor can mobilize an entire nation, even when the tragedy occurred miles away.
