On June 24, 2026 will be marked in the memory of Venezuela as one of the most difficult days in recent history. In a matter of seconds, two earthquakes in a row —the first of magnitude 7.2 and, just thirty-nine seconds later, a second earthquake of magnitude 7,5— shook the central coast of the country, with its epicenter between Yaracuy and the coast of La Guaira. The combination of the two movements, with nearly no margin to evacuate between one and another, caused the collapse of homes, buildings, and roads, in addition to serious effects on essential services such as water, electricity and telecommunications. The state of La Guaira, with its capital and surrounding areas as Catia La Mar, was one of the regions hit hardest.
In front of a stage of this magnitude, dozens of families were transformed its actually from a moment to another: some completely lost their homes, others were trapped in the rubble of the uncertainty, without access to safe drinking water, food, medicines, or a roof worthy. It was at that moment, when the need was most urgent, that Casa de Pan, decided to be present.
A foundation I was born to serve
Casa de Panis a non-profit foundation, registered under the status 501(c)(3) in the united States, who was born in 2018 at the initiative of Clara Lopez Negron and her husband Joel Negron. Since then, its purpose has been clear: bring nourishment, care, and hope to children, older adults, and families in situations of vulnerability, both in Venezuela and in the united States and other communities where the help is needed. Your motto —faith that inspires a love that serves and actions that transform lives— gained an even deeper meaning after the earthquake of La Guaira, when the organization was activated immediately with its network of volunteers, community leaders and allies to respond to the emergency.
Mobilization immediate: solidarity in action
During the days following the quake,Casa de Pan teams toured various sectors of The Guaira leading direct help to the affected families. The response is organized in several aspects of the work, each one designed to meet a specific need of the emergency:
Delivery of food. Were distributed non-perishable food among the families who lost access to their kitchens, pantries or nearby markets, ensuring that no homes be left without support in the most critical days.
Delivery of clothes. Many families lost all their belongings under the rubble. Casa de Pan, approached clothes, and shoes to cover the immediate need, especially among children and older adults.
Delivery of medicines. Before the destruction of pharmacies and health centres, and the inability of many families to move, the foundation took medication directly to those who were interrupted their treatment.
Medical assistance. Equipment of the foundation provided care and support to people with health conditions delicate, giving priority to older adults and those who require close follow-up after the emergency.
Social assistance. Volunteers accompanied the families in a moment of collective grief, offering guidance, containment, and monitoring of the most vulnerable cases identified in each sector.
Support the community. The hand of community leaders, the foundation coordinated the logistics of each day, working with the communities, that help came in an orderly way and to those who needed it most.
Donations. Thanks to the support of allies and partners in Venezuela and in the united States, the foundation managed to channel resources and gifts that quickly became in food, medicine and supplies to those most in need.
Mobilization immediate: solidarity in action
One of the principles that guided every day was a priority attention to the high-risk groups: the elderly, families with small children and people with health conditions delicate. Together with community leaders in each sector, the team of Casa de Pan sought that each delivery is done with organization, respect and, above all, dignity, avoiding the urgency of the emergency becoming an experience depersonalized for those who had already lost so much.
This way of working —close-up, orderly and humane— it is also a reflection of the values that they hold to the foundation since its founding in 2018: faith, love of neighbor, dignity, solidarity, commitment, and integrity. Values that, in the midst of the earthquake of La Guaira, ceased to be words to become actions.

Each photograph taken during this mission —deliveries of food, days of medical assistance, moments of accompaniment to entire families— is a silent witness of what lived in those days. Are images that show pain, yes, but also willing hands to serve and your heart that decided to come together to remind the affected families were not alone. A work in progress
The response to the earthquake in La Guaira was not an isolated event, but a new expression of the mission Casa de Pan has sustained since 2018: providing social assistance and humanitarian aid to those who are in situations of vulnerability, without distinction of any kind. As well expressed by the foundation, this space "grows with each story that we document", and the emergence of La Guaira is now added to that record of faith turned into action.
